New York City Pride Week comes shortly after the Orlando tragedy, and the sweaty city is taking matters into her own hands and fighting guns with guns.
The other kind.
Among other pre-planned pride events this week, some of my favorite studios are teaming up to offer a Pride Tri package that includes the best of all fitness worlds.
Go to Chelsea Piers and swim.
Go to Swerve and ride.
Go to Mile High Run Club and run.
This package is $125, and $50 of those proceeds go to families of the victims of the Orlando shooting.
Of course, outside of this package, many other studios like Soul Cycle, Solace and FlyWheel are hosting support rides for Orlando, and Pride.
Definitely check out Sweat Life to learn all about the #GunsAgainstGunViolence campaign. I was so happy to see so many familiar fit faces with rainbows on their hard-earned guns.
Especially the bad-ass crew from Mile High Run Club
We are proud to join @sweatlife_nyc with @chrisfanningphoto and @spotfund in #GunsAgainstGunViolence, along with the fitness community of NYC in response to the tragedy in Orlando. Together we stand in solidarity, using the strength of our “guns,” to show that love will always be stronger than hate. Help us by drawing or painting a heart on the inside of your bicep and sharing a photo of your “guns of love”. ~ COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE, use the hashtags #GunsAgainstGunViolence and #DisarmHate, and tag @sweatlife_nyc @chrisfanning @spotfund - and rally your community to do the same! Head over to @spotfund to find out how to donate to OneOrlando, and to sweatlifenyc.com. ~ JOIN US BY SHOWING US YOUR GUNS, standing up against gun violence, proving that love will ALWAYS be stronger than hate, and donating to OneOrlando!
An event this weekend that is super to be epic, is the Front Runners New York LGBT run put on by NYRR. The event is sold out, but if you’re in the Central Park neighborhood Saturday morning, come by and celebrate.
